A Tip for Us Cheapos

You know how your spices get all messed up in the cupboard and it takes you forever to find what you're looking for sometimes? I have a trick for that:I know somebody sells something to organize spices, but I buy so many different brands/sizes, and I'm all about simple, inexpensive solutions, so this is mine.

What's your kitchen tip?

  1. OOH. That is sweet! I am totally going to steal/copy that idea.

Hmm...my kitchen tip...I'm sorry, I am kind of a lame-o cook. I can bake decently, but my culinary skills are nil.

I missed you over the holidays (things were crazy on my end!). I promise to check in with Mrs.4444 more now that the year is in full swing! Happy 2009!

  3. I wish I could do my herbs/spices this way, but I have way too many to do this. I don't know what the answer is for me. I just have too many. My dream is to have a huge kitchen, but that won't happen, unless I win the lottery!! Oh well, it doesn't hurt to dream. In the meantime, I'll keep looking for my herbs and spices in the cabinet. Love & blessings!

  4. I have a spice drawer--a regular drawer beside my cooktop and did the exact thing to my spices so that I could tell what they were as I looked down unto the drawer.

We must both carry the same genius gene!

  5. Wow, that's pretty clever.
I would have to put them in alphabetical order though. I'm OCD like that!

  9. Hmmm...I love the idea...now to figure out how to implement it in my cupboards. I don't have dividers, so they wouldn't stay stacked up, I can't put them in a drawer, my kids would get into them.

My tip is to organize your cooking dishes/pans by material type. One section of shelving has all of my glass: pans, mixing bowls, measuring cup, etc. Another is all my aluminum: mixing bowls, colander, etc. I also sorted my Emeril cookware by type. Top shelf has all of the sauce pans, the bottom shelf has the skillets, etc.
